5 Internet Resources for My Classroom

1. Adobe TV

I have been using Adobe tutorials on the Adobe website for my students over the past few semesters. Since I set up my blog earlier during this course, this link came up in the RSS feed that I set up on Google Reader. I was blown away! This is an amazing source for video, step-by-step on all the Adobe products. I would use the videos on this site as enrichment content.

Listen how I describe the resource to my students:

2. Photobucket
Link to the site:
http://photobucket.com/

This is a really cool site that has many uses. Teaching and working in the visual arts field any Site that manipulates imagery is perfect for my classroom. One example would be for my students to upload their artwork or their students artwork to use for: critique, sharing with students' family, sharing with teacher and administrators.

This link will bring you to a slideshow created in Photobucket that could be used in the classroom:

3. MERLOT
Link to the site:

MERLOT stands for Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching. It is an online learning object repository. There are quality lesson plans and other classroom material on this site. I would have my students use this resource for their Art History project and encourage them to become members in the future.

Listen how I would introduce this tool to my students:

4. Artchive

This is a great site for my students to use when creating artwork and making lesson plans for their future classroom. This site has historical information and imagery organized by period and artist.

The video demonstrates how to navigate through Artchive.

5. Pageflakes

Pageflakes is a type of aggregator. I have put together a Pagecast for resources in my classroom related to the software we use during the semester.

More Adobe Tutorial Sites

http://www.adobetutorialz.com/categories/Print-aLinknd-Web-Publishing/
Wow. I found another resource for my AED 398 course I teach at BSC. It is amazing what the RSS feed has been revealing for me. I will be able to have more sources to direct my students to and may be able to find some great lesson ideas. Some of the pages are a bit old, but still are useful.

This site appears to be a free site since it is full of Google advertising.

Do you think the advertising is distracting?

IPhone and ATT woes

http://www.macworld.com/article/141157/2009/06/att_iphone.html?lsrc=rss_main

Wow! I am really wondering about AT&T. I have been with them since Cingular, and before that Cellular One. I have had a cell since 1994! I am just going to dive in and not worry. I'll just have to keep my nose plugged as I dive in, just in case.

What do you think?

Mac TV

I do not use Apple TV and I do not use my computers in conjunction with my TV , but thought this was an interesting tool to use: "control an on-screen cursor with the motions of your hand."
What potential does this have in the classroom?

I would love to get my hands on this to test out to see how accurate it works. After completing the assignment about Jenny last week in regards to AAT (adaptive and assistive technology) I wonder how this could be used in that environment?

discounted MACS!

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13506_3-10262531-17.html?part=rss&subj=news&tag=2547-1_3-0-20

So, I'm in the market for a new Mac laptop, too. Mine is four years old and the screen is shot and so is the CD drive. Reading this article makes me want to run out and buy one now since the old inventory prices are being slashed by Apple.

Should I buy an older model reduced price laptop or shell out top dollar for the latest and greatest machine?

It's perceived value that matters most when making a buying decision.

Do you agree with this statement?

Mount Vernon Photo

I just wanted to call attention to the photo at the bottom. It is a recent photo I took on a trip to DC. It is a flower in the grounds of Mount Vernon, home of George and Martha Washington. What do you think of the photo?
